Caught a little off guard by the punch Sariah couldn't react quite as quickly as she normally would have. She was able to roll with the momentum to lessen the blow, but was still stunned briefly. Without hesitation, she spun her own agiel into her hand, leaving her former trainer's dangling at the ready. With her gift, she reached into the center of the darkness. The web was crudely woven given the haste with which it had been cast. It would be a fairly simple task to unravel it, but instead she followed a stray thread toward the source. "Clever, but not clever enough.." she muttered. With a well practiced mental twist, she set a glowing outline around the would be assassin, and rushed toward him, her second Agiel spun into her fist on the second stride, the third brought her close enough to clearly make out the situation, Lord Rahl was down, the assassin too close for comfort.
The fourth stride brought her close enough to slam her twin agiels into his back, for reasons only known to her, she drew no blood, nor broke any bones, but the pain of their touch would be crippling to nearly anyone.

His aim had been off with his wave, but there was little chance of stopping Aleister now. He saw the other Mord-Sith strike at the assassin with two Agiels, and adjusted his angle so he wouldn't collide with her. One of his following dark clouds shot forward to try and smother the assassin, and just before the range was closed, Aleister froze the water in the earth and air about the man's feet to try and restrain his motion. Then he was there. His ice-encased body, while not accelerated to the degree it was a moment before, was still moving faster than most humans could run when he struck at the assassin's right hamstring and kidney with claws sharper than a ceramic knife and stronger.

Well this was an unexpected situation. He was finally at his target, yet he was frozen and being drilled by the thundering pain of agiels. Hadn't he decided to avoid the agiels? And why the hell was he frozen. If he could get free of the ice, he could possibly get away. He closed his eyes, and narrowed his concentration. His entire body became black, and slick much like an oil that was void of all existence. The ice simply disappeared from his body. But the second the ice vanished his concentration exploded as the quaking power of the twin agiels in his side became all the more real. He screamed as he tumbled to the ground. He swore to himself there and then, that he even though he were to be taken captive he would never unleash his magic on a mord sith. He would not succumb to that torture. And one day, he would have his questions answered by Lord Rahl

With a classic Mord Sith smirk, Sariah drug the agiel in her left hand down the assassin's right leg, again avoiding drawing blood or breaking bone. "Not going to try to use your magic on me? You're either smarter than this open attack would suggest, or you hadn't thought of that yet." she said before dropping her right Agiel to its chain, and grabbing his hair in that hand. "Here's what is going to happen. I've no doubt that Lord Rahl has many questions for you.. You're going to answer every one of them truthfully if you want to delay your just punishment for that foolish attack." she said after jerking his head up so that she could speak directly into his ear. During all of this she kept her body firmly between the assassin and Lord Rahl. her agiel resting so close to his skin that any movement on her part other than to pull it directly away would result in it touching him again.

Everything happened too quickly for Maliss to do much more than flick her dagger from it's hidden sheath into her hand and drop into a ready stance. The lights vanished, everyone was shouting, She remained calm though, and knew that if whoever was attacking them came close enough, she would have all the time in the world to get answers from him. As always she felt her power pushing from inside her, ready to be released at any moment, but still fully under her control.
All at once, the situation changed, the assassin was caught, and everything began to return to some sense of normalcy. Before the light could come back, she slipped the dagger away once more and let herself relax a little. "Well, this night certainly got a bit more interesting than I like." she said, more to herself than to anyone else..

Rahl was standing now. Arya and Eris had helped him to his feet. In front of him was the assassin, who was, with a Mord-Sith's firm grasp on his hair, quite immobile.
He turned and walked a few steps, and lifted his sword from the ground, examining it absently. He then took a few steps back to the assassin.
"The lady is correct. I do have questions for you. And you will answer them. But first..."
He turned to the Mord-Sith, and said, "Thank you. Your aid is greatly valued and without it, things may have ended much differently than they did. You said you would kneel for devotion. I would have you know that I do not require that of you."
He looked to the Confessor, who had been sitting when it all began and, as a result, was unable to take part in the intense but short battle. "I apologize for intruding upon your campsite and causing such a ruckus. In return you are more than welcome to join us for the night. We have plenty of food."
And, lastly, he looked to the assassin. He did not speak, at first.

Quelin sat rather uncomfortably at the hand of the Mord Sith. He would never let loose his power on a Mord Sith. He would not. As for Lord Rahl's questions; he'll make the decision whether or not to answer his questions. They may have him at the mercy of a Mord Sith, but he could still find a way to escape. He looked up at the Lord Rahl now standing above his eye line.
"Well then you'll have to answer mine, or there will be no answers for you from me. Furthermore don't get comfortable having me as a captive and slave, because I will not be in this situation forever, so unless you give me reason otherwise, I would watch your back"
The slick black void still covering his face, he let out a smile that nobody else could see. He wouldn't try to struggle, lest he get attacked with an agiel needlessly. Even though he could put the pain to the back of his mind, it still hurt worse than anything he had ever experienced. But being arrogant most likely wouldn't help his situation, but he decided to see what happens. Mord Sith couldn't hold him forever

Ice still coating his form, Aleister shook his shell off into oblivion, and raised an eyebrow. He saw Quelin's smile. Shadow was an useless facade against one such as him. The assassin was hardly in a position to be bargaining to all appearances, despite having displayed the presence of mind to not use magic against a Mord-Sith. Yet things were not half so rosy for the man as they seemed... Aleister had brought a giant short-faced spirit bear to it's knees using his own blood. Were Aleister to have a single drop of the assassin's blood, there would be little to no hope of escape for him. Aleister glanced down to his hands to see if his attempt to hamstring the assassin had yielded any sap from his veins. With or without it, Aleister was capable of torment in ways few could imagine.
"You struck at us first, assassin. I would recommend for the benefit of all parties tht you simply answer the questions, and promptly. Do not even consider falsehood.

Quelin's attention shifted.
"You would do well Aleister to button that lip of yours. That is your name isn't it? Aleister Brighton as it were? I do believe I've been watching you for a while now. And don't bother looking for my blood. You won't be finding much of that around. The shadows may be your element my friend, but I can make it so you'd never even know I was there. So you better let me do the talking when it comes to questions being asked and answered."
Quelin gave another sly smile. He knew exactly where he stood. He had not planned on being sat here in this exact position but it had accomplished the same end. He was within speaking distance of the Lord Rahl. Exactly what he had wanted from the start, granted he would have preferred to be alone.
"Now gentlemen, shall we start with the questioning?"

At the latest outburst from the assassin, Sariah pressed her agiel firmly into the side of his neck, raising a thick welt, but still not causing any permanent harm. "You may have been able to hide from the wizard, but you can't hide from me.. I know your magic now, even if I don't yet hold it." she said with just a hint of malice in her voice. There were many things she could do to him, even without capturing his magic, and she was already contemplating all of them.
"I wonder assassin.. Would you be so confident in your ability to escape if you had no bones in your legs?" she asked this in a nearly seductive whisper that no one else was likely to hear. She'd avoided responding to Deneric's statement of gratitude for the simple fact that it touched her far more than it should have.

Aleister's eyes narrowed with a seriously even his features rarely knew. Only the Blood had ever been fools enough to observe him clandestinely. They had learned to let him be long ago. But this one... Aleister inhaled. Deeply. He didn't stop. He was doing something rather risky, something even out and out war wizards would be frightened by... Aleister was catching the "scent" of the assassin's soul. There was bitterness there. Pain. Anger. Pride. A curious nobility, almost completely shrouded by blinding ignorance... but not true foolishness. Nevertheless, with or without light, Aleister could pursue this man to the edge of the world and beyond, should he choose to. "Do not mistake me for some petty shadow-player. My roots are planted deeper in the Veil than any could gather from mere empirical observation. Your soul is... confused. I would elucidate your misconceptions, but I don't think that would be my place. Now please, cooperate." To emphasize the point, Aleister gripped something a bit deeper than mere cold and shadow, and gave a light squeeze.

Doubling over in pain from the agiels in his neck, he could only let out a chuckle at the Mord Sith.
"You really, honestly, think I care about what happens to me? If I sincerely cared about my life, do you honestly think me fool enough to charge blindly into a situation I had not taken proper time to assess? Do what you will. If me questions are answered you can do with me what you will with no opposition. If you should decide to let me live, and answer my questions, we will go from there. But for now you have proven to be intent on causing me harm and I will await to speak with Lord Rahl"
As for what Aleister was doing, he was clueless. His soul was confused? What in the name of the spirits was that supposed to mean. If he's trying to touch a nerve or bring back something from his horrific past, he doubted it would work. Quelin had buried those memories long ago. He would not allow the slightest inkling of them to resurface fi he had any control over any part of this situation.
"Aleister I know not what you speak of but you can rest assured, it makes no difference to me, I Dont want to pretend to understand, but if you threaten that which is most dear to me, I promise will kill you, slowly and surely. You will not die an easy death if you threaten that part of my life. I can promise that."

"I cause you harm because you caused harm. I take no pleasure in this, but do not mistakenly believe that I will grant you any mercy if your actions threaten Lord Rahl again. Now cease this petty banter with the wizard, this posturing does neither of you any favors." As though to prove her point, Sariah sent a gentle flow of additive magic into the welt on his neck, cutting it off before anything more than a slight reduction of swelling could occur, but if she had continued it would have erased the mark entirely.
"I can be your greatest ally, or your worst nightmare pet... It all depends on how this interview with Lord Rahl goes.." she said again in that same purring whisper.

After listening to the words exchanged between the assassin, Aleister, and the Mord-Sith, Rahl finally spoke.
"You have threatened my life, but I do not know you. What, then, is your reason? Has Alaric learned of my escape? Did he send you? Or is it my dear old friend, the Emperor? What are you being paid?"
Arya, who had disappeared to give the surrounding area a quick check, stepped up to the assassin out of the darkness, bringing her Agiel up, pointing at his throat. She did not speak.

Aleister relinquished his grip on the connection between the man's life force and his mind. Partially it had been to see if he would sense the oblique insertion, which few if any would have noticed. The man knew at the very least some of Aleister's capabilities: this confirmed that most if not all apart from the Mud People elders remained ignorant of his most frightening aspect. "I agree- I'm sorry, but it seems I don't even know your name, ma'am, though your 'pet' seems to already to be privy as much about me... and while I am unsure as to what created the scars in his heart, which I think he thought that I was thinking about having him think about... self-defeating, that... anyway, I presume Lord Rahl wants to question..."
Aleister's gray-hazel irises faded again to black along with the 'white's of his eyes. He had seen this man before, by the causeway into the Wizard's Keep when Aleister had left the ancient center of New World magic. He had been slightly numbed to strange sights, and had though the gleam of red in his eyes interesting but unimportant... stranger things at the Keep...
"My, my... you do have much to explain, Feuer-Herz." [Fire-Heart]
