Adela and Dean were almost to Jocopo. It had been nearly a whole day since they left the Mud People's village, passing Alaric's camp as they were setting up for the night. Dean hadn't attempted to revisit their earlier conversation. She suspected he was use to her keeping information to herself. But this was important and he needed to know what was going on before they arrived. As she slowed her horse to a jog trot, Dean followed suit.
"We are going back to Aydindril--"
"Good, I'm tired of sleeping on grass."
"We are going back to Aydindril," she repeated, "because a prophecy has been set into play. Do you think you can hold your tongue long enough to hear it?" He glanced over, curious.
"I can try"
"But when the bold one seeks the woman of white, the one born in this world but of the next shall weave a new cloth from the fabric of the veil, and this scion of the House of Rahl shall return to his ancestor's abode during the turmoil caused by one born leader of men, who would be ruler. There shall he know both joy and agony, for unless he can overcome the invisible barrier in his path, the burden of the bond shall fall to him, and he shall face the traitor lord, and both shall taste of death."
"And you know what this means?" asked Dean.
"Not entirely, but it hints that this man is somehow related to the House of Rahl."
"'When the bold one seeks the woman of white'. Does that refer to Alaric finding you back at the village?"
"Yes, that is my belief. I noticed him coming through the trees while you were playing with the chickens, I had my suspicions. And as you know the Mud People have named him Alaric the Bold." She gave him a look."This is the reason we must return to the Keep; to find the rest of the prophecy or see if a prophet can make it any more clear."
