It had been a couple of days since Alaric had left the mud peoples village. No answer from the mother confessor but this journey would not be a loss. He had heard stories, legends really, about a hidden treasure in the wilds. The Mud people told him of the Jocopo. It was not far from there village, and if it turned out the treasure was real, he could fund his campaign indefinitely. He and his twelve men scoured the cave they had found for hours, until they entered a enormous chamber.
"By the creator." Alaric marveled. Gold was everywhere. "Pack up as much as you can, we must get all that we can on this trip, it maybe a while before we can make it back.
The men began packing up as much treasure as they could carry. Alaric continued to explore. He came upon a well. He peered in. It looked as if there were no bottom. Suddenly he felt something. Something stir with in him. The well began to fill. A silver liquid. He had know idea what is was. She appeared. Alaric took a couple steps back.
" Do you wish to travel?" It asked in that voice, that smooth alluring voice.
"What?"
"Do you wish to travel? You called to me."
Alaric was dumbfounded. Called to her. What was she talking about.
"Called to you? How? Travel where?"
The creature looked confused. It then explained that it could help him travel great distances.
His men came upon them. Bags full and ready to go.
"Yes. We wish to travel." Alaric said.
"They can not travel. They do not have the price."
"Price what price?" Alaric asked confused.
"They can not travel with in me. If they do they will die. Only you have what is necessary."
Alaric was growing more confused. Why could only he travel. What did he have that the others did not. "Fine. You men head to Renwold. Go as quickly as possible. If this works I should be there ahead of you. If not and I die then tell Torak he is in command. He is to take the army to Caska as planned." He turned to the silver woman. "Can you take me to Renwold."
"Yes. I have been there before. Come we will travel, you will enjoy it."
"How long will it take." Alaric asked.
"I am long enough." It replied.
"OK. Not the answer I was expecting." He resigned himself this sliph as she called her self was talking in riddles."lets go." She explained how the traveling worked and how he must breath. With nervousness and excitement he entered.
**** Breath
Breath
Alaric Breathed out the silver liquid and in air. It felt wrong to breath air. Alaric gained his bearings. He left the room with the well. He walked out of a cave. Just out side of the city. It was night. He was unsure how long the trip had taken him. He told his men to meet him at a specific inn. He would go there and find answers.
***
He entered the Inn bar. There was much noise and commotion. He took a seat next to a man at the bar. He was dressed in dark clothing wearing a cape. " Do you know what day it is?" The man glanced at Alaric, then back at his glass.
"Friendly aren't you." Alaric could tell by the way the man held himself that he knew how to fight. He could also tell he had a number of weapons on his person. The man shuffeled a little and Alaric caught site of his blade. "Kelton steel some of the finest in the world. I am sure that cost a pretty penny. I am Alaric." He stuck his hand out.

The cool breeze blew through walden's long brown hair as he sat outside the inn thinking to himself. Since his recent duties no longer required him, he felt a deep void inside him. If he spent so much time training in the art of combat, there should be something for him to do. The only thing Walden could think of was the revolution in d'hara. While it may not be his place as he is not d'haran, he felt he needed to do something of use with himself. That left the important question of which side to choose. Walden had very little idea of the motivations behind each side. well he thought, I could always just go inside and ask around... Gathering his resolve, Walden strode into the warm atmosphere of the common room, full of conversation, singing, and laughing. After a quick glance around the room, Walden's eyes snapped to a man at the bar talking with another well armed man, if Walden hadn't known better he would have said that it was Alaric the leader of the rebels. It must be him, assuming that the descriptions are correct. Who better to explain the rebellion's purpose than the man himself! Walden walked over somewhat cautiously, for he knew that this moment would likely be a moment which would change Walden's life. Alaric and the man next to him noted Walden's approach and turned slightly to watch him come forward. It seemed as though Walden were interrupting something, but it was too late to turn back now, so Walden asked hoping for the best, "hey, this is going to sound somewhat silly, but you wouldn't happen to be Alaric, the leader of the rebellion would you?" "why yes in fact I am. why do you ask?" Alaric replied. "well as I said this is going to sound stupid, but I was wondering what the rebellion is about, because I have been looking for something to get involved in, and I wanted to see if this would suit my needs." Walden replied, suddenly realizing how utterly stupid he must have sounded. Walden's heart paused for a moment as he waited for the man's reply.

"Come sit down. Good thing we are in the Midlands. Just openly saying my name like that could of caused us a lot of trouble." Alaric studied the man."So, you are looking for a cause? Are you any good with those?" Alaric said motioning toward some of the man's array of weaponry.
"Good enough" The man replied back.
" So you wish to know of the rebellion. It is a war of freedom. Freedom from a house that has ruled the same land for thousands of years. Do you know what happens when the same group of people rule for that long?"
The man didn't know what to answer.
"Nothing" Alaric said.
"Nothing?"
"Yes. Nothing. They get complacent in there power. They never had to work for what they received so they don't appreciate it's value. They are unprepared to deal with the problems of the world. The ever changing flow that the world brings." The passion in Alaric's voice was evident. "Bartender get my friend....What was your name.
"Walden"
"Walden here a drink. Look at the world around you. Do you like what you see? Do you feel that the leaders of the world have looked out for you and yours? I don't. My land is in chaos because our leader... if thats what you can call him. He does nothing. I on the other hand am a man of action. If I see something I want, I take it. If I see something that I believe to be wrong, I remove it, by any means necessary. Some people cling to rules that limit there potential. Do understand what I mean? Failure is not an option for me in anything I do. I will win. If I have lie, cheat, steal, torture, kill. I do so with the knowledge that my actions will save lives. That because I have done these things, my people will sleep in there beds at night with there families."
Walden was entranced by his words.
"What would you do Walden, to protect your family, your people? Can you imagine the devastation. If some foreign army came and destroyed your land, killed your family, your people. This is what I fight against. The current leader of D'Hara would see this happen. There have been raids on villages to the south most of D'Hara. Soliders came and burned them to the ground. And the leader of D'Hara sent messengers. MESSENGERS!!" He said slamming his fist. " To try and negotiate with them. To help them see reason he said. To help prevent more bloodshed he said. I had family there. My sister." He shook his head. "Do you know of vengeance Walden? I will have vengeance. But first I will remove the incompetent leadership from my land. So that a unified D'Hara can repel the monsters from the old world." He sighed"Does that answer your question Walden?"

Walden considered for the first time in a long time, that there was indeed more to life than just the next fight. He was truly moved by Alaric's inspirational words. Taking a deep breath to steady himself Walden began,
"yes, I do know of revenge, I come from a land deep in the rang'shada, where I defended a peaceful religious group. One day though, an army came and overpowered us, destroying our peaceful land. Me and a few survivors hunted down as many as we could and slaughtered them. So yes, I do know of revenge." Walden explained
"Yes, you have answered my question, but I have just one more for you, how can I help?" Walden finished, feeling and air of finality rest over them.

"I commend your bravery. You are welcome to join me. I am waiting for a group of my men to arrive. When they do, we will leave for my camp." Alaric felt the good spirits were with him. What were the chances to meet a man of such skill in a inn in Renwold." Tell me Walden where do you think you can be the most beneficial? You know better then I your skill set. I have a good feeling you will prove yourself more then effective. Together we will bring freedom and justice to the world." He raised his mug."To a new friendship"
"To a new friendship." Walden replied.

"As to where and how I think I should help," Walden began,
"Having been trained to survive on my own, I tend to prefer my own company, and seldom work with others, unless I know that I can trust them, because I don't want to fail because of someone else's short-comings. Due to this, I think I would best be of help as a scout, by myself, or with a few other people, but I would prefer it if I could decide whether I want someone with me or not."
Deep inside Walden, a small spark of light was beginning to grow, filling the dead void that had resided where his passion used to. Walden knew that he'd indeed picked the right inn to find himself a cause.

"Good." Alaric replied. "Then you will report directly to me. I will give this journey book. I feel I can trust you Walden. So I am going to set you out on the most critical mission I have."
Walden was surprised, they had just meet but he already trusted him with a critical mission.
" This mission, Walden could very well end the war. It is a mission that I believe you are perfect for. You may go alone or recruit those you trust. But no one can be told that may compromise your mission. Do you understand Walden?"
Walden was getting excited."Yes" What could this mission possibly be, he thought.
"Good. We will speak in the morning, then you will set out." With that Alaric left for his room.
****
The next morning Alaric woke early. He had a bit of a hangover from the night before. He pondered about Walden. Was he the right man for this job? Could he truly trust him? A knock at his door. He opened it to find Walden.
" Good morning Walden."
"Good morning Sir."
"Come in and I will tell you of your mission." Walden entered and shut the door behind him. "I am trusting you Walden though we just meet I feel a bond to you. If you will swear allegiance to me. I know your word is unbreakable. Coming from a holy land. I am sure if your sworn to something you can not break it.
" Yes." Walden replied. " I swear allegiance to you."
"Good. Your mission. There is a weapon out there that will help in our cause. A weapon that the pure symbol of will rally lands to our cause. A weapon that has been lost for hundreds of year."
"What kind of weapon" Walden asked.
"A sword." Alaric replied. "Not just any sword mind you, but the sword of truth."
Walden gasped. He had heard of the legendary sword.
"You must find it Walden. With it we can unite the world under our banner. With the sword of truth and a seeker. We will be unstoppable."
"Where should I begin?"
"Aydindril would be a good start. The Wizards keep. But I do not know if it will be helpful. I will leave it to you. Do what you must. Go where you must. I will also give you my seal. If you are captured by my forces. They will release you with out a question. But if captured by Rahl it may get you killed. Go now and find the Sword of Truth. Then with it justice will be had."

"yes sir!" Walden said, and began to leave but paused a question appearing in his mind
"sir, what is aydindril's feelings on this matter? Will they treat me as an enemy?" Walden asked, grateful that he had thought to ask such a crucial question, for he knew it would make the whole difference

" They will be suspicious. I would not mention the real reason you seek it. For they may find that bothersome. But you are a nobel person Walden and they will see the good intentions you have. Hopefully that will be enough to earn their trust."
