Behr's eyebrow lifted an imperceptible amount at that. It was a smaller number than he would have expected... and that wasn't good. Loyalty to Rahl was keeping men from defending D'Hara... or rather... Alice saw all this. No one else in the room, not even Johann, who had worked with Behr for years, had noticed the tiniest change in expression boding a cut off thought. But she saw. And would get answers... later. "Then, I shall break my men up into groups of varying size, some as low as four, some as large as fifty. There are some Gifted in Bandakar our wizard,Bás Chiúin, has trained over the years- we shall see how many are willing to volunteer. Ideally, every group would have a wizard, but..." Behr and Torak settled into discussing tactics. While Johann, Sigurd, and Bertram remained standing, Alice slowly and inconspicuously leaned on a tent pole, to conserve energy. If her suspicions were correct... she would be leaving much sooner, and she didn't want to travel tired.

Later, the Specials were already saying goodbyes, and preparing for their imminent departure. It was during this time that Alice managed to confront Behr about her suspicions without the Lieutenant's watchful eye. "They're gathering at the Retreat, aren't they?" Behr was startled, and glared half-heartedly at the Seeker. "You know far too much." "If I knew any less, I'd be long dead. Are they?" Behr sighed. "No way to be sure. But I would bet heavy stakes on it. How'd you find out about that anyway?" "Commander, I studiously avoid cliche... But I really would have to kill you if you knew."
